Browser Support

I strongly recommend browsing this site using Firefox, Safari, or Opera. Any of these browsers are much better than Internet Explorer. As of this update, this site no longer supports Internet Explorer 6 (IE6). If you use IE6, many parts of the site will be broken.

If you must use Internet Explorer, please upgrade to IE8. Not just for this site, but you should upgrade anyway for security reasons. Even in IE8, I’ve noticed the site takes a long time to finish loading and I’m not sure what’s causing this yet. The site loads fine in other browsers.

Feedback

If you notice some area of the site where something looks weird, isn’t aligned correctly, or just doesn’t seem to work, please post a comment here describing the problem. However if you’re experiencing problems on IE6, please upgrade to a better browser.

Changes and New Features (v2.0)

• The overall design has been updated
• Integrated forum and improved interface with more topic/subforum information at a glance
• Dropdowns for improved blog post browsing
• Threaded comments (you can reply directly to specific comments)
• New Community section with site-wide activity feed
• Profile status updates
• New “About Me” profile fields (age, gender, location)
• Twitter updates
• Login and logout now takes you back to previous page instead of the homepage
• Username in admin bar (grey bar up top)
• “My Account” in admin bar links to your profile page
• Set your own password at registration (for new users)
• Register and Login links moved to top right in admin (so it doesn’t take up valuable menu space)
• Delete posts from your Wire

It’s not a new feature, but I’ve re-opened blog post commenting to everyone. I restricted it members as a test and forgot to turn it off.

State of the Site (as of January 20, 2010)

Stats since site launch about 5 months ago on August 26, 2009:

• 49,914 visits
• 21,980 unique visitors
• 201,261 page views
• 400 blog post comments
• 524 forum posts in 89 topics
• 202,055 video views

Let’s hope this site hits new peaks in 2010 and Yoon Eun Hye enjoys more success!

UPDATE:
There were several issues with the upgrade. Some key functionality doesn’t work after the upgrade. The issues will be monitored but for now, but the upgrade will be shelved for a 2-4 weeks.

I’ll continue to work on this in the background so that when it comes time to upgrade, it’ll be a smooth and less noticeable upgrade (no scheduled downtime, just a flip of the switch).

The site will be undergoing a major upgrade of the underlying applications that power the site. This upgrade will happen after My Fair Lady has wrapped up. This upgrade will be largely transparent to most users except maybe a little downtime or blocked access. There will be a few new user features that I’ll go into more detail at a later time.

Site Content

Also, as the site content is updated you may notice incomplete pages around the site. I’m working to fill out the informational pages about Yoon Eun Hye. Additionally, we’ll be posting backdated Yoon Eun Hye news as time goes on so you may notice news items dated before our launch date.

Gallery

You may have noticed that one of the missing pieces of the site is a image gallery of Yoon Eun Hye. A few members have been posting picture galleries in the forums and this is much appreciated. We have a couple of great moderators like yodya, Viola501, and ellayeh being active and helping to seed activity on the forums!

I’m still a little torn between hosting a massive gallery here or continuing to post externally-hosted images (i.e. ImageShack) in the forums. A self-hosted gallery would consume massive amounts of disk space and bandwidth. I’m leaning towards establishing a gallery but the software application (Gallery) I’d like to use is still in beta and isn’t integrated with the software managing this site (WordPress/Buddypress/BBpress). We’ll see how this turns out in the coming weeks.

New Design

Along with the backend update, the site will also be redesigned. The forum and main site will also be more tightly integrated instead of seeming like 2 separate sections.

State of the Site

Since launching on August 26th, this site has had 2,667 unique visitors, 5,306 visits, and 16,844 pageviews! We currently have 74 registered members. That’s not too shabby after just 41 days.

A lot of things are still being worked on in the backend but in the meantime, sign up and stop by the forums!

In the coming days and weeks, we’ll be making design changes and adding features to enhance the site and the forums to provide members with a better overall experience. Please bare with us, as we decided putting up the site first was more important than getting everything perfect. We currently already have volunteers that are archiving YEH news to post on this site. Everyone involved in this site is working hard and volunteering their time to create a successful community of YEH warriors.

We’ll be running a contest in the forum soon for public submissions of a graphical header for the site. So look out for that!
