Yoon Eun Hye and Kang Ji Hwan Hold Surprise Birthday Party for ‘Lie to Me’ Director

Yoon Eun Hye and Kang Ji Hwan for new drama 'Lie to Me'

Yoon Eun Hye, Kang Ji Hwan, and the whole crew for the upcoming drama ‘Lie to Me’ have been busy filming and preparing for their broadcast starting May 9. Amidst their busy filming schedule, the two leads held a surprise birthday party for PD Kim Soo Ryong. Also, SBS has released the first promotional photo (above) featuring both of the very photogenic leads of this romantic comedy.

Yoon Eun Hye and Kang Ji Hwan were filming at the W hotel for a scene depicting their characters’ first meeting in the hotel banquet hall. The filming went on late into the night and when they were wrapping up for the day, the 2 lead actors came out from behind a curtain to sing and hold a candle ceremony. Kang Ji Hwan came out with a birthday cake and congratulated PD Kim Soo Ryong for his birthday, and Yoon Eun Hye thanked the PD and presented him with her birthday present that included a gym suit and sneakers.

Park Hyo Joon gave the PD cologne as he joking, “I want to smell my man’s scent.” Jang Woo Young, Kim Kyu Jin, and others including over 70 staff members clapped and cheered in a fun, harmonious atmosphere.

Kim Soo Ryong PD, who leads the production, stated, “Because of the very busy schedule, I [forgot] that today was my birthday. This is the first time I had a birthday party at 4 AM in the morning. I am re-energized from the support of the staff members and the anticipation of the viewers, so I will do my very best to create an entertaining drama.”

Kim Soo Ryong PD has much to celebrate lately. His SBS Foundation Special project, ‘Father’s Home’, has just won the best short story drama award at the 44th Houston International Film Festival. ‘Father’s Home’, which has been a hot issue with the return of actor Choi Min Soo, was also nominated for the 16th Shanghai International TV Festival and won the ‘Asian TV Award’ as the best short story drama. Kim Soo Ryong has previously won awards at 5 international festivals including the Houston International Film Festival, New York TV Festival, and Philadelphia Film Festival with his 1996 New Years Special project, ‘Gong Ok Jin’.

Kim Soo Ryong PD displayed his anticipation for ‘Lie To Me’ by stating, “It will be an emotionally moving romantic comedy, that comes from stimulating and free ideas full of humor and fun.”

With a such a fine PD at the helm and such a great cast, we’ll be in for a treat next month!
