Amidst the unceasing popularity of the Hallyu's Lee Young Ae and Choi Ji Woo, female Hallyu Stars are still playing their part and continuing their efforts. Through the collection of results from a set criteria of *ratings *achievements *potential to advance *appearance etc, Sports Hankook chose their top 2008 Hallyu Female Stars. Amongst the selection, Yoon Eun Hye, Kim Ha Neul, Chae Rim, Jang Nara and Lee Da Hae shone the brightest. With the results we received from the questionnaires that we handed out to the reps of the entertainment industry. Yoon Eun Hye was the obvious first choice as the new and young Hallyu star to watch out and keep an eye on. In actual fact, YEH is a first generation Hallyu star, who had already broken into the Chinese Market. In her teens, Yoon Eun Hye had already entered the China Market as the youngest member in girl group "Baby VOX". At the time, Baby V.O.X made history by topping the Chinese Pop Charts as a Korean Artist, with the song "Im Still Loving You". However, the one who is currently receiving all this attention is not the 'singer Yoon Eun Hye', but rather the 'actress Yoon Eun Hye'. The MBC dramas Goong (2006) and The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince (2007) which had also received a powerful response nationwide, gave rise to YEH and made her a permanent fixture as an actress within the Asian Market. The rights to were sold for a recorded $1000,000 and was exported to 9 countries, including China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The following project after was KBS2's The Man in The Vineyard, where the rights were also sold and exported to China, Taiwan and others, naturally placing YEH into the Hallyu market as "Yoon Eun Hye the actress". The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince, received high popularity, ranking in at a record 12th highest viewed in Taiwan, beating Bae Yong Joon's The Legend which ranked 16th. YEH, who could act as an adorable, pretty princess in Goong and could also convincingly deliver herself as a woman disguised as a man in The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince. For this, YEH is being acknowledged for her wide spectrum reaching acting ability. Yoon Eun Hye has also shown her productable effectiveness by reaching far into the Commercial Market, as China's CF model for the Japanese Cosmetics Brand 'DHC'. Hallyu is a term to call actors or actresses who are very very famous internationally and in many times, also well-respected for their talents shown in past works. For this, both Gong Yoo and Yoon Sang Hyun haven't reached yet. I know they're both good actors but you see... YEH doesn't do dramas that often, so I also want to see her work with other actors, make new connections, learn from working with them, make new experiences, new friendships and etc. maybe in the future she can work with her ex-costars again, when she's done more dramas and movies, but not now. Plus Verdi Media has said numerous times that they only wanted certified famous Hallyu stars as a male and female lead and Gong Yoo/Yoon Sang Hyun are not quite there yet in that category. as for Ryu Shi Won...I am sorry, but he looks way too old and I've seen almost all of his dramas and i can honestly say his acting chops is pretty bad. I'd take Gong Yoo ro Yoon Sang Hyun over Ryu Shi Won any day if the criteria is acting. I am glad that this is a Hallyu drama and they are looking for a famous Hallyu leading man for YEH, cause in all her past dramas, she's never been paired with anyone really famous. I think it's a good change for once, cause I am tired of seeing other actresses getting paired with big shot actors while YEH never really does. There's rising interest for the actor who will replace Park Young Ha in the drama Love Song. Love Song, a remake project of Tian Mi Mi (1996) starring Leon Lai and Maggie Cheung, halted after the sudden death of the leading male actor Park Yong Ha in late June. Since the shocking event, Verdi Media has been in the process of looking for Yoon Eun Hye's new partner. Presently, the top candidates are considered to be So Ji Sub, Ryu Si Won, and Won Bin, who are all Park Yong Ha's closest friends. Hence, there's a rising interest in who will continue the last project of the Hallyu star Park Yong Ha. A member of the production team stated, "If we consider Park Yong Ha's international popularity, image, and etc. as a Hallyu star, it would be best if one of his closest colleague take his place. The choice would be a comfortable one for Yong Ha's fans, and it would be meaningful in a sense of completing his final project. But because his friends are all top stars, it's not easy to make the schedule fit. The person may also feel burdened replacing his friend." The production team has set early August as the final decisions for the cast. They must begin filming before September at the latest in order to meet the schedule. This member stated, "We are in the final tuning stage of finding an actor who best fits Ms. Yoon Eun Hye." Love Song will remake Tian Mi Mi, a movie which received lots of love in Asia including Korea. It will be filmed in Korea, Japan, China, and it is currently negotiating with 11 countries for the broadcasting rights and investments.
