Fan Fiction Rules

In addition to the standard forum rules, these rules govern fan fictions posted by members of this site. All rules will be enforced by admins and moderators. Fan fiction pieces found to be violating any of these rules are subject to removal.

1. NO PLAGIARISM

• Do not claim credit for work that is not your own or copy material in whole or in part from other sources.
• Do not create derivative works that are overwhelmingly similar to existing works.
• Do not translate existing work and claim it as your own.
• Do not base your work entirely on existing work from other mediums such as comics, manga, movies, etc.

Penalty: Authors will be warned on the first violation, banned from posting fan fictions for 3 months on the 2nd violation, and banned permanently on the 3rd violation.

2. NO BULLYING

• Do not post mean, hurtful, distasteful, or otherwise offensive comments. There is a difference between bashing and constructive criticism.
• If there is an offensive comment posted, do not retaliate. Simply report it to a moderator.

Penalty: Members (both authors and readers) will warned. The member may be banned depending on severity of the violation or if it's a repeat offense.

3. NO REDISTRIBUTION

• You may not copy, repost, disseminate, or otherwise redistribute fan fictions in any way, in whole or in part, without clear consent from the author.
• You may ask authors directly by PM for a copy, but do not harass authors if they refuse. Authors are under no obligation to provide any copy of their work.

Penalty: Readers will be banned from the fan fiction forum until the redistributed work is taken down. Repeat offenses may warrant a permanent ban.

4. NO SPAMMING

• Keep your entire fan fiction in one thread. Do not separate chapters and post multiple threads.
• Authors, do not PM members to read your fan fiction unless they've requested to be PMed. Readers, if you want to "subscribe" to a fan fiction, PM the author. Readers can also use the thread's RSS feed to keep updated on new posts.
• Do not post content in this forum that isn't a fan fiction. If an admin or moderator determines your thread is a not a fan fiction, it will be deleted or moved to an appropriate forum.
• Do not make irrelevant posts to a fan fiction thread. All comments should be related to the fan fiction at hand. For anything unrelated, please use the PM function.

Penalty: Members (authors and readers) will be warned. Repeat offenses may warrant a ban.

5. NO SEXUALLY EXPLICIT CONTENT OR GRAPHIC VIOLENCE

• All fan fictions must be rated PG-13 or lower. Simple rule of thumb: If you don't see it in a PG-13 film, you can't include it in your fan fiction.
• Do not depict sexually explicit scenes in graphic detail. It's okay to describe intimacy and romance in a general way, but do not go into graphic detail about sexual acts.
• Do not depict extreme or graphic violence. For example, it's okay to describe fight scenes or action sequences but do not go into detail about overly disgusting wounds or bloody scenes.

The following are allowed:

• Isolated sexual comments and sexual acts that are implied but not shown.
• Dance movements that are sexually suggestive.
• Conversations about having sex (but not overly explicit).
• The main characters are shown in bed together, and sex is implied by circumstances.

You can inform your readers that you have a more mature or explicit version and have them PM you for a link or copy.

Penalty: Authors will receive warnings and their fan fiction will be removed. Repeat offenses may warrant a ban.

6. ONLY ENGLISH ALLOWED

• Do not post fan fictions in any language other than English. This is the primary language of this site and we can not regulate or determine the contents of material posted in another language. If you want to offer readers versions in another language, you can have readers PM you in private.

Penalty: Authors will be warned and told to provide only an English version. If the author does not comply in a timely manner, the fan fiction will be removed.

7. NO FILE-SHARING

• Do not distribute songs for other files for which you do not own the copyright or have permission to distribute.

Penalty: Members (authors and readers) will be warned and the offending post will be removed.
