SNSD was picked as the “best girl group ever” in a TV audience poll conducted by KBS 2TV “Generation Empathy Saturday” on Feb. 5th.

Under a segment called “Ranking! Old and New,” the show let its viewers cast their vote for the “Top 10 Best Girl Group Ever in K-Pop Industry.” SNSD easily ranked atop the list, showing once again the nine-member girl group’s ever-growing and dedicated fan base in and out of the country.

Here’s the top 10: #1 SNSD; #2 Fin.K.L; #3 Wonder Girls; #4 S.E.S; #5 KARA; #6 2NE1; #7 Brown Eyed Girls; #8 Secret; #9 f(x); #10 Baby V.O.X.

It’s quite impressive, however, to see Fin.K.L rank right behind SNSD in the poll as it’s been more than 10 years since their debut. Fin.K.L is a four-member girl group that featured pop diva Lee Hyori as one of their members. They were one of the first girl groups to debut in the K-Pop scene and had a huge following in the late 90s to early 2000s, alongside other girl groups such as S.E.S. and Baby V.O.X, who each stood at #4 and #10 in this ranking as well.

The list does look like a pretty legit reflection of the best girl groups to have debuted in Korea over the past 15 years or so. It covers pretty much all the major girl groups that’s made a splash in the industry, but to be honest with you, in my humble opinion, old-school hip-hop girl group DIVA deserves better recognition and a spot on this list as well. So surprising that BBV is in the list instead on the #10, but still in the Top 10!!
BBV era was passed for years but still being LOVED until now..

good to hear that BBV is in the list of the

I think B.Vox's status in Kpop at the time was sort of like Kara's~
SES would be like Wonder Girls and FinKL would be like SNSD..

But perhaps B.Vox was little more successful than Kara within the era they were active~ since B.Vox was clearly top 3 best girl group in Korea, and clearly the most successful Kpop girl group in foreign markets. This at a time when Kpop market was much smaller abroad but there were just as many girl groups at the time. So it's a big accomplishment for them.

same here..i though Baby V.O.X back then was just like Kara now....

anyway, so many year passed, and they r still being loved...that is kinda successful too

i though SES was better than FinKL but it doesnt seem so :))

Hi K~!!

I think SES targeted overseas market like Wonder Girls did after their initial dominance. And it was during that time that FinKL came about, sorta like how things turned out with SNSD^^
SES's music and image seemed to change from "fairy" songs to more Japanese influenced music and image as time went on..
While FinKL became the representative of the "fairy" girl group, capturing many male fans^^
It's hard to compare to Kpop girl groups of today...So many things have changed..
But both SES & FinKL were very successful..
B.Vox was an oddball for the time, in terms of their style of songs and image for the era...
In this sense, they were sort of like when 2NE1 first came out..
Anyway, they had many loyal followers and became famous as well..
So when people usually talk about the 1st generation girl groups, it's usually the three~SES, FinKL, & B.Vox..
But there were many other successful girl groups at the time as well during that time..
It makes me wonder, which of today's groups will represent their era 10 yrs from now~
I'd assume Wonder Girls, SNSD, 2NE1, & Kara are the forerunners for now..
But we'll just have to wait and see what happens^^
