    i got this from allkpop...

    just read this for fun

Korea’s 2011 box office hit “My Black Mini Dress” will be making its way to the CGV Cinemas in Los Angeles on April 22nd. Yesterday, I got a chance to view the pre-screening of the film in order to present you all with this movie review.

“My Black Mini Dress” revolves around the story of four friends who are all 24-year-old recent college graduates. Yoo Min (Yoon Eun Hye) is a hopeful writer who lands a job at the bottom rung of a broadcasting company. Min Hee (Yoo In Na) dreams of becoming a fashion designer but ends up in a basic English language class amongst high schoolers in order to pass her TOEFL exam. Then there are Soo Jin (Cha Ye Ryun) and Hye Ji (Park Han Byul). While Soo Jin is struggling to make her acting debut, failing countless auditions, Hye Ji randomly gets scouted and achieved instant fame, but struggles to get acknowledged by her peers in the industry. The four girls’ close friendship is tested as they face the harsh realities of life.

While the core cast of the movie is star-studded on its own, this film also has an all-star supporting lineup, including Chun Soo Kyung, Lee Yong Woo, Choi Yoon Young, and U-KISS’s Dongho. It also features short cameos by actors Lee Chun Hee and Kim Kwang Gyu. For all the Kiss Me’s out there, Dongho stars as a high school student in Min Hee’s English class. Although there aren’t many, most of Dongho’s lines are in English.

“My Black Mini Dress” is cross between two popular American chick flicks, “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” and “Sex and the City“, as all three films revolve around the friendship of four unique girls. While “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” is about teens in high school and “Sex and the City” is about women in their late 30s/early 40s, “My Black Mini Dress” is situated right in between with girls in their post-college mid 20s. The hardships that the girls of “My Black Mini Dress” have to face are very similar to those that occur in the aforementioned American films as well; parental divorce, men, sex, pregnancy scares, jealousy, death, and most importantly holding tight to their friendship amidst the trials and tribulations.

“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”, “Sex and the City”, and “My Black Mini Dress” all seem to follow the same ultimate chick flick formula: four unique characters each with their own style, who are the best of friends, a story of their individual battles in life, and the special support system that they have. Therefore, if you liked any of the prior mentioned movies, or if you are fan of chick flicks in general, I recommend this film.

NOTE: Unfortunately, “My Black Mini Dress” will not be shown with English subtitles.

I don't know about you, but if I were living near Los Angeles, I wouldn't miss oppertunity to watch Eun Hye LIVE on the big screen (who knows when she will come back in movies?), even if, like you I don't understand Korean at all lol. I would be happy just to watch her talking/acting/interacting with the other characters and I would be indirectely supporting her by going to watch her movie. Anyways, of course, what you decide is your own decision and I respect it.

when i saw that news at allkpop and i said WHAT? no english subtitles? that make me more WHAT?
hurmm, i really hope they will screen this movie with english subtitle, if me, i will just go to the theather because i know yoon eun hye, im her fans and of course i want to support her , but to the new american viewer, they will think that this movie will not worth to watch, it really easy just to translate the movie, why they not? we just not only think about us if want support this movie, think about the other viewer who just know about this movie. it great news to know they will screen at america but the bad news is no subtitles, it worthless.

I just finished watching it without subs and I'm not 100% sure, but I think that I saw YOON BAN SUK, Yoon Eun Hye's little brother. I think he did a little cameo appearance...Can anyone confirm this? If maybe his name is in the ending credits or something...He only appeared for a few seconds, in the scene where Cha Ye Ryun buys a bag and then Yoo In Ah comes in the store. He's the one who sold the handbag. It's the scene at about 68 minutes into the movie...

i just finished watching MBMD yesterday ^^
i really love the story (even thought the subs are not yet that perfect ^^ ) :)
i was really touched how they care for each other and how they express their love to each other :)

and .. the part where Young Mi (correct me pls if i'm wrong ;) ) called Yoo Min before she committed suicide , it makes me wanna cry .. it shows how a person values you :)

ah, whatever !! i love My Black Mini Dress (:

( i'm gonna go and watch it again :P )

“ I’d like to show my talents little by little, but the unfortunate thing is that a lot of people don’t want to give me time for failure. I’d like to learn more as I experience failure too. I wish people would not brand an actor as a failure through one mistake.”--Yoon Eun Hye

I have just finished watching the movie and I have to say, I'm very pleasantly surprised at how good the movie is. I mean, whenever the news about the movie cite 'Sisterhood...' and SATC, I get a little apprehensive. While I'm all for girl-power, I would think that such shows would be draggy and belabour points I would personally find superficial. It took me three tries to watch this properly. First time round I was on YouTube on the phone and got sleepy. So I stopped. Second time I was on YouTube too but the sub-standard subtitles and slow streaming forced me to stop. Even when I started it the the third time round, my apprehension was still there.

But 15 minutes into the movie, I found myself really invested in the characters. I wanted to know more about each character. I found myself wondering 'Eh Yoo Min, why don't you work harder?', 'Soo Jin ah, what's up with your forlorn face?', 'Min Hee, what's your back-story?' and 'Hye Ji, are you really happy?'.

And the beauty of the script really hit me when Min Hee was at the court house and that's when I realised we're all being taken down this carefully constructed path. Where things that seemingly happen for no reason makes sense. It's not exactly Checkov's gun but the satisfaction one gets at the end of the movie is quite immense.

It's a story of 4 girls somehow brought together through the wearing of the same dress a the beginning of college. They don't know each other as well as you would think but they know enough and that drives their friendship. Realistic.

I watched MBMD last night ..and was up till 3 am =D loved it!!! it was an awesome movie!!
i think at the age of 20,25..love isn't so important..we just care about our friends,looks...we need a friend to talk to and hang out...and if there's something wrong with our lives ..we don't want our friends to find out and look down on us...we think our lives suck but other people's lives are great..we think money can buy us happiness.. and we really want to be THE BEST...this movie really presents the real stories of women in their 20's truthfully... =)
YEH and other casts really did a great job!! and our lovely YEH are amazing..The One The Best!! eonni keep up the great work!! PlZzzz come back soon =D

can u pliss explain to me, its yoo min who got promoted over young mi rigth??
did yoo min steal young mi idea or is it her own idea from the start?? because there was scene where young mi helps yoo min types the script right??
poor young mi, being obsesed but can't handle the thruth...btw, its her funeral or mooring party that bring all 4 back together right??
