Drama versus reality: Becoming Yoon Eun-hye

(Sketch inspired by Yoon Eun-hye's endorsement images for Cartier)
And so, I decided to get a new hairdo last week, and having been sucked into the blackhole of Korean dramas, where else better to look for inspiration but from my favorite actresses?
In particular, I've been fascinated with Yoon Eun-hye's hairstyle from Take Care of My Lady, which she has had for the past few years with little variation. It can be worn long or short depending on one's mood and the occasion, and being the greedy me who loves variety, I decided that this was the perfect 'do. (Okayyy, I'll admit that there was that teeeeeny weeeny bit of hope delusion that I'll look as good as her if we had the hairstyle.)

Armed with some images of Yoon Eun-hye, I entered the salon full of optimism that I'll emerge as A Grand Beauty. But instead, one hour later, I sat in front of the mirror, staring at my hair with a smile frozen in place so as not to disappoint my regular hairstylist.
He had taken my instructions literally to have a transformable long and short hairdo, and snipped the hair at the sides all short, leaving a long tail behind. In short, it looked like the dog ate my hair at the sides.
I spent the whole weekend fretting about my new 'do. How was I... going to face the world with dog-bitten hair...?
Day 1 - Confidence Conquers Everything
On the first day, I strutted into office as if nothing was different. 'Confidence,' I muttered under my breath, 'is the secret to beauty.' But I didn't manage to get past my fifth step before someone exclaimed, 'Oh my god! What happened to your hair??!' followed by a chorus of shock and dismay all round. Strategy failed.
Day 2 - The Art of Distraction
The best way to forget a past love is to distract yourself with a new one. Okay, I'm sure this was phrased a little differently, but essentially, they all mean the same things, no? If I want to get people to stop noticing my dog-ate hair, I have to preoccupy them with something else. And so, on the second day, I wore the most atrocious looking pair of spectacles I have (Oh yes, I have a collection, given that I work in the design industry and we're oh-so-fond of cool and quirky spectacles). But barely three steps into the office, what greeted me was: 'Are you still going around in THAT hair?' Strategy doomed, in three seconds.
Day 3 - When All Else Fails, Admit Defeat (and fire the hairstylist)
From the third day on, I've been wearing my hair up in a bun. Now I look halfway between a secretary and a nun. Admitting defeat is never easy, but it's what big-hearted people do in order to become better over time, but not before firing my hairstylist, un-friending him on facebook and throwing away my regular customer privilege card.
Lesson learnt: becoming Yoon Eun-hye is not easy.
What crazy things have Korean dramas inspired you to do?

.. was reading an article (http://www.allkpop.com/2009/04/mixed_fortunes_for_yoon_eun_hye_and_park_shin_yang) and stumbled on the original plot for My Fair Lady..
"Lady Castle is a story about 3 daughters and the inheritance left by their father. Their lifestyle is disrupted after a poor man disguises himself as a housekeeper/manager of a rich house with an eye on the family's hidden slush fund. He falls in love with the haughty second daughter (of three), Noh Yura, played by Yoon Eun Hye. Noh Yura is a lady who possesses a goddess-like beauty. She is strong-headed, selfish and the world revolves around her, where all things must go her way. Yet, Yura is lonely and longs to be loved, and for this, Yura is weak in front of true love and is one who you cannot help but love."
I don't know about anyone else, but the above plotline sounds a lot more interested!
