1st Shop of Coffee Prince: canned coffee
by Betchay on April 12, 2010

Do you remember the Korean TV drama “The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince” starring Yoon Eun Hye and Gong Yoo? Well, it’s now available in cans – the coffee I mean. Koreans are heavy coffee drinkers – at least with the instant variety. There are various canned coffee brands here including a few from the coffee shops: Starbucks, Tom N’ Toms and Holly’s (that has Kim Nam Gil or “Bidam” as their CF model). My favorite though is Doutour, previously endorsed by Boys Over Flowers’ Gu Hye Sun and now has Song Hye Gyo in their CFs.

I got the “1st shop of Coffee Prince” canned coffee last Friday at Family Mart. The seller said it’s an exclusive of the convenience store chain – so I guess it isn’t available in other stores. It’s available in two flavors – Americano and Caramel Mocha Latte. I actually forgot how much it was but it’s definitely not more than 1,000 won. The caramel mocha latte has 95 calories.

And the taste? Let’s just say it’s not something I’d buy again.

I can guess Hangyul's Coffee shop can improve the next step more and more.
and something I can say,if I work at Seoul,I must visit his shop every morning.

(But the cheapest coffee (may be Iced Latte) is no so cheap for me b/c it costs as the plate of perfect menu in Thai restaurant!!! (about 200 BTH upto,Gosh!!!))

    How about "Coffee Princess"?"...eiei =D

Here's a pic of the canned Coffee Prince ^^

I must say they sure know how to use marketing strategy coz even though it's been 3 years, Coffee Prince is still very popular, and people are still calling our YEH "the lovable Go Eun Chan"

I used to visit the 1st Shop of Coffee Prince when I was in Korea last summer as well.
But the coffee there is off-the-charge expensive!
I remember the cheapest one is 8$ (around 8000 Korean Won) which is more than 300 Thai baht. Ack! :o

Haha Coffee is quite expensive in Korea..
A house coffee from Starbucks or Coffee Bean will cost you about $3~$3.20 for a large cup..
But this large cup is equivalent to a medium cup size in U.S.

If one was to go to a cafe for coffee in Southern Seoul, it would generally cost about $8~$10..
    But free refills~~~~!!!
I guess it's part of paying for the seating space.. =)
