With a relatively quiet year of 2010 for YEH, compared to many other stars who's been getting much more coverage on net, many YEH fans have asked if YEH's popularity had gone down a bit in Korea^^
And this concern seemed to have increased for some YEH fans as the news of YEH leaving JOINUS and Basic House was recently released.

It's important to understand that the number of advertisement contracts or CFs do not accurately portray a star's status in Korea, and not all 'A list' or 'Top Stars' are at an equal level status.

It also doesn't mean that a big star has lost their popularity if they don't get much internet news coverage during the quiet period, as the biggest few stars aren't usually mentioned or searched continuously on net. CFs and/or advertisement contracts also differ a lot in guarantee pay, and the specification of the contracts are very different for different level stars/corresponding CFs. So if you see news of other stars getting more exposure on net, not to worry^^ YEH's doing fine in Korea.

Here's an excerpt from today's Dong-A Ilbo's news article. I hope it helps to answer some of the concerns that some YEH fans may have had recently^^
    _____

What do Lee Young-Ae, Song Hye-Kyo, Jun Ji-Hyun, Yoon Eun-Hye, Choi Ji-Woo and Kim Hee-Ae have in common? They are the 'Special A Level' actresses who makes your heart flutter with mere mentioning of their name. Another common bond they share is that you can continue to meet them through CF (Commercial Film)s even if it gets difficult to see them in a drama or a movie..

Although Song Hye-Kyo hasn't been active with a new project since the drama The World They Live In (2008) and the movie Fetish (2008), she has appeared in 9 televised CFs since 2009..

As for Yoon Eun-Hye, while she hasn't had a project since My Fair Lady (2009), she was televised in 7 CFs just in 2010. Jun Ji-Hyun also had 3 televised CFs even when her last film was movie, Blood (2009).

Choi Ji-Woo hasn't had a project since the movie Actresses (2009) and Star's Lover (2009), but she appeared in 5 CFs since 2009..

The contract/pay for appearing in a CF depends on the advertiser's preference, consumer's awareness and interest (of the star), and is divided into 'Special A Level', 'A Level', 'B Level', 'C Level' and etc.

    Thanks for the explanation CDBloom!

I hope that Yoonn Eun Hye will continue being successful in 2011 with her new movie (and drama?) ^_^ I'd like to see her advertising for a telephone cf, since she hasn't done one yet in the recent years except for her LG Telecom CF with Joo Jin Mo in 2005. Anyways, I can't seem to recall what where her 7 CFs in 2010...I know that there's Actz, Cass Beer, Beyond, Basic House and Joinus. I'm not sure if her two endorsment with the clothing lines are considered as Cfs (probably yes), but even if you count those, it only amounts to 5 CFs...Does anyone recall what were the other 2?

CDBloom oppa, do you know how much an 'Special A Level' star gets per cf? I've read an article on Allkpop a few months ago and they were talking about the most expensif CF stars who were singers or idols and not actors, but I don't know if we can compare the two. They also used the words 'Special A class'. It was said that "According to the results, Rain and Big Bang were classified under ‘Special A Class’ in the industry, and are both worth $1 million to $1.5 million USD." (source: http://www.allkpop.com/2011/01/who-are-the-most-expensive-cf-stars )

    Hi justine260~^^

'Special A Level' actresses gets paid on average $700,000 to 1 million USD(assuming $1 = 1000 won, but under current exchange rate it would be about 15~20% more), as the allkpop article stated. Obviously, some contracts pay more or less, depending on specifications.
But I think actors generally get more high paid CF opportunities than singers, because actors generally cover more audience. There are more 'Special A Level' actors than singers. And Rain and Lee Seung Gi became more known for their dramas/movies, not as a singer. I'm actually surprised about Big Bang though..because many older people don't know them. I think in the end, idols can generally sell products to the 10~30 yrs old market, actors can sell products to any age sectors. If you've noticed, most singer only idols get paid less, and 'Special A Level' status given to singers are generally actors as well.

You may also notice that singer/actor 'Special A Level' stars are male. While most of the 'Special A Level' female stars are actresses. So, there are more 'Special A Level' males than females, more actors than singers, and most (if not all) female 'Special A Level' stars are actresses and not singers. I can't think of any singer who can be considered 'Special A Level' as a singer only entertainer. It's not because they are less talented, it's just that TV/Movie are a much bigger market than K-pop market. This is easy to understand as more people watch television/movies than follow Kpop (music in general).
Many people who are older, just don't get to see the singers enough on TV, and so they just don't know them.
Appearing on variety shows help the singers promote themselves outside of Kpop, but the effect is much smaller than a hit drama or a movie.
CFs are televised ads. Many ads are non televised ads. Some are for internet or magazine ads only.

Thank you CDBloom =D for the above information. It triggered my curious mind to find out who the ladies are in the “Special A Level”. Hahahaha, i ended my quest for info when i found out that in the list
    1. she is the youngest, birth age and profession age (debuted in 1999)
    2. she is the one who is multi-talented and practically rose from the ranks as a young entertainer from a girl band to become a Best Actress awardee in different Korean entertainment industry award giving bodies.
    3. At a young age, Miss YEH joins Miss Choi Ji Woo in being managed by a company owned by herself and a family member (source: http://www.hancinema.net/actresses-choosing-to-be-managed-by-family-26568.htm), sadly the article did not mention Miss YEH to be amongst the actresses, that I can understand, Miss YEH is a major stake holder in a big way – buying a small company is a higher risk, than building from scratch
Conclusion – I am very proud of our Miss Yoon Eun Hye!

I just feel hitting jack-pot knowing Miss Yoon Eun Hye, why loving her and following her career growth is such a “feel good” everyday thing for me. Very glad to be a YEH warrior and be in this community for Miss Yoon Eun Hye! thank you everyone! =D
